April 13 marked late actor Satish Kaushik's 67th birth anniversary. The actor's close friend Anupam Kher hosted a grand musical celebration of his memories and contribution to Indian cinema. The event was attended by several prominent names of Bollywood. Rani Mukerji, Neena Gupta, Shabana Azmi, Javed Akhtar, and Anil Kapoor among others graced the evening. Amidst the event, Shabana Azmi revealed how Satish Kaushik was contemplating suicide.

After his first directorial Roop Ki Rani Choron Ka Raja failed, Satish Kaushik slipped into depression and was finding ways to commit suicide. On the event of his first birth anniversary after Satish's death, Shabana Azmi shared a worrisome incident that ended on a lighter note.

Satish Kaushik Wanted To Commit Suicide?

As per a report, the veteran actress said at the event, "After the film (Roop Ki Rani Choron Ka Raja) failed, he was a dukhi aatma (sad soul) and he had this feeling that, 'now I should die.' He was on the first floor and when he looked down from there because he was finding ways to commit suicide, there was a party going on. He saw potatoes and brinjals being fried. So, he was like, 'yaar main aloo baigan ke beech mein agar kud ke marr jaunga toh yeh kharab death hogi (If I fall between potatoes and brinjals and die, it'll be a bad death)'."

Roop Ki Rani Choron Ka Raja was headlined by Anil Kapoor, Sridevi, and Jackie Shroff. An out-and-out family drama, the movie proved to be a disaster at the box office.

At the same event, Satish Kaushik's daughter Vanshika delivered an emotional speech, leaving all the attendees in tears. Anupam Kher shared a video of the same on his Instagram. Have a look.

Satish Kaushik's Birth Anniversary Celebration

Anupam Kher hosted a musical evening to celebrate his dear friend Satish Kaushik's first birthday post his death. In a recent interview, the actor opened up on how he believes to celebrate his loved one's death instead of mourning that person's loss after his father passed away 11 years ago.

The DDLJ actor said, 'I planned to celebrate my father's life so that my mother can spend the rest of her life happily. That way this ritual started. Satish and I have been friends for almost 48 years and will continue to be.'

He further added Satish came into his dreams a few days ago and asked him to do to something special on his birthday eve. Earlier, Kher penned down a heartfelt note for Satish Kaushik on his birth anniversary.

Taking it to Instagram, Anupam wrote, 'My dear friend Satish Kaushik. You'd have been 67 years old this Baisakhi. But I am grateful and happy that I got 48 years of your friendship, so I will celebrate that with music and love. Come my friend and watch us celebrate.'
