Samay Raina summoned by SC for joke on disability
Stand-up comedian Samay Raina is in trouble yet again after his derogatory comment on people suffering from disabilities. He appeared before the Supreme Court on Tuesday in a case seeking legal action against him and five other influencers for ridiculing disabled people.
However, the comedian chose not to comment on the ongoing controversy and said he would save his comments for the court.
Several videos have surfaced on the internet showing Samay Raina arriving at Court 2 of the Supreme Court, where he was approached by reporters seeking a comment from him on the allegations against him.
Samay avoided interacting with the media and the press. When persuaded, he replied, “Wahin kahenge na, aapko thode hi kahenge (Whatever I have to say, I’ll say in court, not to you).”

In another video, Raina was asked if he`d like to say something about the allegations against him. To which he replied, “I support (YouTuber) Mohak Mangal." After this, the comedian`s lawyer escorted him inside the courtroom, requesting reporters to refrain from questioning him.
Later on Tuesday, Samay Raina took to his Instagram stories and shared a picture with his lawyer, Himanshu Shekhar, calling him his "main man".
Samay Raina`s legal controversies
On Tuesday, the India`s Got Latent comedian was asked to appear before the Supreme Court along with four other influencers, Vipul Goyal, Balraj Paramjeet Singh Ghai, Sonali Thakkar, and Nishant Jagdish Tanwar. This was in a case seeking legal action against them for ridiculing people with disabilities.
A bench of Justices Surya Kant and Joymalya Bagchi recorded their presence and directed them to file their replies to the petition.
For the uninitiated, these five social media sensations are accused of making fun of those suffering from Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA) and blindness. The court, however, allowed Sonali Thakkar, alias Sonali Aditya Desai, to appear virtually due to some physical condition.
Earlier this year, Samay Raina was booked by Maharashtra and Assam Police over his derogatory remarks on India`s Got Latent with podcaster Ranveer Allahbadia.
The comedian even appeared before the National Commission for Women (NCW) and submitted a written apology over remarks deemed disrespectful to women on the show.
