Rupali Ganguly on Anupamaa vs Kyunki Saas Bhi Bahu Thi
The internet has been shaking and quaking after Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi 2 premiered on Star Plus and JioHotstar on July 29. Smriti Irani reprises her iconic role of the virtuous daughter-in-law, Tulsi Virani, and welcomes the viewers to Shanti Niketan in her signature style.
However, fans couldn`t help but compare Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi with today`s highest-rated TV serial, Anupamaa. Rupali Ganguly, who essays the lead role as Anupamaa, welcomed Tulsi Virani with open arms.
Amid the constant comparisons between the two daily soaps. Ganguly opened up on the same and called the second season of the 2000s show "iconic."

Ever since Ektaa Kapoor announced the return of her legendary show, there have been constant comparisons and rumors about the makers of Anupamaa being worried about their TRP.
After Ektaa called the comparisons "unfair," Rupali opened up on the same and shared her two cents on the ongoing debate.

She said, “Ekta ji ka badhapan hai ki woh itni achi achi baatein kar rahi hai. Yeh sach hi hai (It’s Ekta ji’s graciousness that she’s saying such kind things. And it’s true. Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi is nostalgia. Hum sab ke liye badi garv ki baat hai ki woh humare channel pe show wapas aa raha hai (For all of us, it’s a matter of great pride that the show is returning to our channel). I don`t understand how you can compare Anupamaa with Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi.”
For the uninitiated, Rupali Ganguly, who rose to fame with her roles in Sarabhai vs. Sarabhai, is now headlining Anupamaa, a daily soap that premieres on Star Plus and JioHotstar.
What Ekta Kapoor said
In an earlier interview with Brut, the producer opened up about the iconic 2000s show making a comeback in the modern-day era and also addressed the comparisons between the two television`s favorite bahus.
She said, “We are coming in for our purpose. To tell our story. These unfair comparisons between lead characters and lead shows are so unnecessary, and pitting women against each other and pitting content against each other is so uncalled for.”
Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi was one of the most iconic television serials back in the 2000s. The show ran for eight long years, from 2000 to 2008.
The rebooted version premiered on July 29 at 10:30 pm on JioHotstar and Starplus.
