Rubina Dilaik recalls being called chubby during her initial days
In today`s time, body image issues and self-acceptance are topics that are openly spoken about. But back in the day, one would struggle with their physical appearances, especially women. Actress Rubina Dilaik, who is currently winning hearts with her appearance on Laughter Chefs, recalled being called "chubby" during her initial acting days.
While she is whipping up lip-smacking dishes on the celebrity reality show, Rubina continues to inspire off-screen as well. In her recent chat show `Kisine Bataya Nahi` on YouTube, the actress spoke about many things, including struggling with body image issues.
In the latest episode, actress Ankita Lokhande joined the couch for an honest, no-filter conversation as the divas spoke about self-worth, beauty, acceptance, and more.

During the show, Ankita opened up about her childhood insecurities, recalling how she would ask her Ajoba (grandfather) if she was beautiful. She even touched upon dealing with fame, love, and life on her own terms.
Dilaik, moved by Lokhande`s revelations, shared her own little anecdote. Reflecting on her early television days, the Jeannie Aur Juju actress said, “When I used to do Choti Bahu, people would call me ‘chubby’, having a ‘fat face’. I have struggled with this quotient of beauty. Yes, I have struggled with how I look."
She further went on to discuss constant comparisons with other contemporaries at industry events and award functions.
“While attending award shows, I used to look at my comrades and colleagues nicely dressed up, and it used to take a lot for me to build that confidence that I can also fit in this. I have taken a hell of a lot of struggle and a hell of a lot of journeys to understand that I’m comfortable in my skin today. But it wasn’t always like this," Rubina confessed.
In the same conversation, the doting mommy also revealed that she once considered undergoing cosmetic surgeries.
“I really thought of something not good about myself. People say lip fillers to make them plump, Botox, threads—I studied each and everything so that I could convince myself whether I needed it or not. That has been my confidence—being informed," she revealed.
Rubina Dilaik`s journey to self-love wasn`t easy. The transformation didn`t come from how she looked but how she felt.
“I share this with utmost humility because I realised at a very crucial time that beauty is not the face. Beauty is something that you radiate. For me, that instrument became my meditation. That instrument became my yoga process," she concluded.
