Riteish Deshmukh`s Raja Shivaji To See A Global Multi-Language Release

Riteish Deshmukh directorial Raja Shivaji`s first poster out
2025 is not over yet, and 2026 already looks promising, thanks to some much-anticipated movies like Riteish Deshmukh`s Raja Shivaji. Jio Studios and Mumbai Film Company have planted an orange flag on Maharashtra Day 2026, revealing the global rollout of the historical drama narrating Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj`s undaunted life.
The film, helmed by Riteish Deshmukh, who also plays the lead role, will be released in six different languages, including Marathi, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, and Malayalam. This will position the story of India`s most courageous warriors both domestically and internationally.
Raja Shivaji narrates the gritty tale of a young Shivaji Maharaj, who challenged the Mughal emperors and other rulers by forming the Maratha Kingdom. This laid the groundwork for "Swarajya", which translates to self-rule.

The upcoming historical drama brings together a spectacular ensemble of heavy-duty talents from both Hindi and Marathi film industries. Sanjay Dutt, Abhishek Bachchan, Mahesh Manjrekar, Sachin Khedekar, Bhagyashree, Fardeen Khan, Jitendra Joshi, Genelia D`Souza, and Amole Gupte come together for Deshmukh`s directorial venture.
Genelia D`Souza is also the producer of the film under the Mumbai Film Company banner.
Along with the on-screen faces, there are behind-the-screen talents who will take the project to another level. Celebrated music directors Ajay-Atul have been roped in to add a dramatic effect. Popular cinematographer Santosh Sivan will be making his Marathi debut.

Ritiesh Deshmukh, who made his directorial debut with the 2022 Marathi blockbuster Ved, shared his excitement about his next historical project and spoke about the importance Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj holds in his life.
He said, “Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj is not just a historical figure — he is an emotion that lives in the hearts of millions. To be able to tell a part of his extraordinary story is both an honour and a great responsibility.”
Shivaji Raja will see a theatrical release on May 1, 2026.
