Ram Kapoor Faces Action for Offensive Remarks During Mistry Promotions

Actor Ram Kapoor has been dropped from the promotions of his forthcoming JioHotstar series, Mistry, after allegedly making a series of sexually offensive remarks. The incident occurred during media interviews in Mumbai, where his co-star Mona Singh was also present. The decision was made by the streaming platform`s management after his comments made several crew members uncomfortable.
Furthermore, in a shocking statement, he trivialised a serious crime by stating he felt "gang-raped" when asked about the work pressure of back-to-back interviews. He also made comments on the attire of female crew members, saying, "If they are in my line of sight, how can I not look?" These remarks were followed by references to sex positions, leaving many in the room stunned and uncomfortable.

Mona Singh was seen conducting interviews solo the day after the incident.
Mistry is the official Indian adaptation of the Emmy Award-winning American series, Monk. The original show revolved around a brilliant detective with obsessive-compulsive disorder. In the Indian version, Ram Kapoor plays the titular role of Armaan Mistry. The series is set to begin streaming on JioHotstar from June 27.

A Barrage of Inappropriate Jokes
During a promotional event on June 19th, Kapoor reportedly made several inappropriate comments. Eyewitnesses, including journalists present at the event, reported that the actor made remarks laden with sexual innuendo. He repeatedly joked about wanting to kiss a male executive from the marketing team and made a crude comment about the executive`s mother.Furthermore, in a shocking statement, he trivialised a serious crime by stating he felt "gang-raped" when asked about the work pressure of back-to-back interviews. Swift Action Taken
The matter was escalated internally, and by the following day, JioHotstar`s senior leadership was involved. Following discussions with their HR team, the decision was made to remove Kapoor from all further promotional activities for Mistry. An insider from the platform stated, “This workplace prioritises dignity and safety. After a complaint was formally raised and the incidents corroborated by eyewitnesses, the leadership moved promptly. The platform wants to distance itself from any behaviour that normalises workplace misconduct.
