Recently, PeeCee shared a glimpse of her first-ever magazine cover with her daughter Malti Marie. The mother-daughter duo looked adorable in red as they posed for Vogue magazine. While she didn't reveal Malti's face, she revealed a lot more other things. One of them was why she opted for surrogacy over natural pregnancy.
Getting candid like never before, Priyanka Chopra finally opened up on her journey of choosing surrogacy and what led her to make that decision.
"I had medical complications," revealed the global star. PeeCee has often kept her private life away from the eyes of the media and continues to do so. She's an over-protective mum who likes to keep her little munchkin away from the limelight.
Speaking about her surrogate, the actress said,
"This was a necessary step. And, I'm so grateful that I was in a position where I could do this. Our surrogate was so generous. She is kind, lovely, and funny, and took care of this precious gift for us for six months."When asked why she doesn't want to discuss her surrogacy journey, Priyanka said,
"You don't know me. You don't know what I've been through. And just because I don't want to make my medical history, or my daughter's, the public doesn't give you the right to make up whatever the reasons were."Priyanka Chopra reacts to her surrogacy controversy
After being a constant topic of discussion, Priyanka is now immune to all the judgments and comments on her private life. However, what instigates her is when the media and public make her daughter Malti Marie a target of Bollywood controversies.
"I've developed a tough hide when people talk about me. But it is so painful when they talk about my daughter. I'm like, 'Keep her out of it.' I know what it felt like to hold her little hands when they were trying to find her veins. So no, she's not going to be the gossip," she said in an interaction with Vogue.
"I have been really protective of this chapter of my life with my daughter. Because it's not about my life only. It's hers too," she further added.
Priyanka Chopra on Malti Marie's health condition
In the same interview with Vogue, the Citadel actress opened up about her daughter's health and the challenges she faced as a newborn. She revealed Malti Marie was a premature baby who was born an entire trimester before the due date.
"I was in the operating room when she was born. She was so small, smaller than my hand. I saw what the nurses in the intensive-care unit do. They do God's work. Nick and I were both standing there as they intubated her. I don't know how they even found what they needed in her tiny body to intubate her," said the doting mother.
