On Friday morning, Poonam Pandey's manager confirmed the news by issuing an official statement on Instagram. While speaking to Zoom, her manager also revealed the reason for her death. It was due to cervical cancer. Poonam was just 32 when she breathed her last.

Her manager's official statement read, "This morning is a tough one for us. I am deeply saddened to inform you that we have lost our beloved Poonam to cervical cancer. Every living being that ever came into contact with her was met with pure love and kindness. In this time of grief, we would request privacy while we remember her fondly for all that we shared."

This comes as a sudden shock since there was no news of the actress's health or being rushed to the hospital.

Her last Instagram post was three days ago. She was seen wearing a black and white outfit in the reel. Her caption read, "White and black: the yin and yang that balance my life."

Who is Poonam Pandey?

For the uninitiated, Poonam Pandey was one of the most controversial actresses in Bollywood and was best known for her erotic and adult movies. She has done several A-rated films like Nasha, The Journey of Karma, Trip to Bhangarh, and Love is Poison, among others.

She became a household name by participating in the reality TV show Lock Upp, hosted by Kangana Ranaut. Poonam showcased her bold and unapologetic avatar throughout her stint. She didn't shy away from being the most controversial contestant.

On one occasion, she even pledged to go topless if fans saved her from eviction. This wasn't the first time she made such a shocking statement. She promised to strip if the Indian cricket team won the 2011 World Cup.

Although she didn't follow her promise, the incident brought the late actress into the limelight. In 2020, Poonam even accused her husband of molesting and assaulting her. This was days after her marriage. Following the complaint, he was arrested in Goa.
