Pallavi Joshi Slams IFFI Jury Head For Criticizing The Kashmir Files, Calls Him A Genocide Denier

-

Amidst the entire, The Kashmir Files criticism by the IFFI Jury head Nadav Lapid at the International Film Festival of India, many celebrities of the movie have commented and expressed their agitation. From Anupam Kher to Vivek Agnihotri, the actors and directors came forward to revolt against Lapid calling The Kashmir Files a "propaganda" and a "vulgar movie." Joining them is the movie's actress Pallavi Joshi who, in her recent statement, slammed the IFFI jury head.

Breaking the silence on the matter, Pallavi Joshi issued an official statement, making it clear it is in response to Nadav Lapid's comments. 'Here is my official statement to Nadav Lapid. Jai Hind,' she quoted.

Her statement read, 'For decades the international community remained silent on the sufferings of the Kashmiri Pandit Community. After 3 decades, the Indian film industry finally realised that it needs to tell India's story truthfully and objectively.'

She further added, 'Vivek and I were always aware that there are elements that would not like to see the stark truth on the screen, but it is very unfortunate that a creative platform was used for a political agenda to preserve an old, false and jaded narrative about Kashmir. We are overwhelmed by the way people of India rose to defend The Kashmir Filesagainst the rude and vulgar statements of a genocide denier.'

Pallavi Joshi, who is also the producer of the 2022 release further quoted, 'I would like to assure our audience and supporters that The Kashmir Filesemains a people's film.'

As she signed off, Pallavi mentioned, 'I also want to thank the Israeli Ambassador H.E Naor Gilon and the Consul General / Shri Kobbi Shoshani for their support. I Am Buddha stands for India and we will continue the path of truth and resilience to keep making meaningful cinema with original Indian content.'

For the unversed, it all started with the IFFI jury head and Israeli filmmaker commenting after The Kashmir Files was streamed at the film festival held in Goa. Criticizing the film, he said, 'All of us were disturbed and shocked by the movie The Kashmir Files. It felt to us like a propaganda, vulgar movie that's inappropriate for an artistic, competitive section of such a prestigious film festival.'

It is funny and ironic that a filmmaker who hails from Israel, a country that has witnessed the holocaust - the most brutal, inhumane thing to ever happen in the history of mankind - passes sadistic comments on yet another cold-blooded incident where hundreds of innocent Kashmiri Pandits were killed.
