In the wake of this shocking news, old interviews featuring Karisma`s father, Randhir Kapoor, have resurfaced, where he made some scathing remarks about his former son-in-law.
During this tumultuous period, veteran actor Randhir Kapoor did not mince his words. In a 2016 interview with the Hindustan Times that has now gone viral, he staunchly defended his daughter. Responding to the allegations against Karisma, Randhir Kapoor had said, "Sunjay is a third-class man... Everyone knows our credentials. We are Kapoors. We don`t need to run after anyone`s money. We have been blessed with not only money but also our talent... (It) can support us for the rest of our lives." He further expressed his disapproval of the marriage from the start, stating, "I never wanted Karisma marrying him."

He lovingly referred to her as an “excellent mother," who was deeply devoted to her children. When asked about the possibility of Karisma remarrying, he said, “I think Lolo (Karisma) is very well settled and happy. I have never discussed the issue of marriage with her, but if she does plan to, she will always have my blessings. But I don’t think she wants to get married.” He added, “She is a happy mother, and if she wants, she can get married any time, but there is no step in that direction right now. She is happy the way she is.”
