Netizens call Suniel Shetty`s recent sexist comment "typical Indian uncle mindset"
Actor Suniel Shetty has once again become a victim of internet backlash after his "husband career banayega" comment went viral. This follows his controversial "comfort of C-section" remark that drew attention from netizens and celebrities like Gauhar Khan.
This time, he is under fire for his recent statement in which he suggested that the wife should prioritise the child and not her career. Instead, she should understand that the husband is busy with his work, while the wife should focus on the baby.
This comes after Shetty`s viral comment about commending his daughter, Athiya Shetty, for undergoing a normal delivery, when he spoke about how C-section delivery is a rather comfortable choice for women.
What was Suniel Shetty`s latest sexist comment?
The veteran actor is gearing up for the second season of his web series, Hunter Tootega Nahi Todega, which also stars Jackie Shroff, Esha Deol, and Rahul Dev. While promoting the same, he expressed his views on marriage.
The Dhadkan actor said, "Aaj kal bachon mein patience hai hi nahi. Shaadi kuch time ke baad ek samjhauta hota hai, in which you must comprehend and care for one another. (These days, kids have no patience. Marriage, after a while, becomes a compromise in which you must understand and live for one another."

"Phir ek bacha aata hai, aur patni ko yeh jaan na zaruri hai ki husband career banayega toh bache ko main dekh rahi hoon. Of course, Saath mein dekhega. Par aaj kal sab cheezon mein pressure hota hai. (Then a child enters the scene, and the wife must understand that if her husband is pursuing his work, she must care for the child. Of course, the husband will be involved. But nowadays, there is just too much pressure in everything," he added.
Shetty, who is busy promoting his upcoming web series, feels a lot has changed over the years, with digital media providing advice on "how to be a mother, how to be a father, what to eat, and what to do."
Netizens slam Suniel Shetty for his sexist remark
As soon as the interview went viral, many netizens on Reddit and other interactive platforms criticised the Phir Hera Pheri star, with some even calling his statement a "typical Indian uncle mindset."
One user took to Reddit and wrote, "Doesn`t their public relations team advise them that being quiet is sometimes the best course of action? Or even the people around them. Bro should learn from his damad (son-in-law)."
Another commented, "Don`t be deceived by his looks or the kind of role they play; Sunil is ultimately 60+ and has a mindset similar to many people in his age group," with a third user adding, "It`s still unacceptable. My father is over 65 and more feminist than any of the men I know."
"Typical Indian uncle mindset…not surprised," one wrote, while another furious social media user slammed, "The more he speaks, the more horrible he becomes. You are a misogynist!" Their true colours."
On the work front, Suniel Shetty`s Hunter 2 is now streaming on Amazon MX Player.
