Oscars 2023 took the internet by storm after Indian movies like RRR and The Elephant Whisperer swept away the Academy Awards with a remarkable win. RRR's popular song Naatu Naatu was not only performed at this year's Oscars but also won the Best Original Song award. It became the first song by an Indian production to be nominated for an Oscar. However, as happy as news this is, netizens are equally frustrated after Oscar 2023 host Jimmy Kimmel called RRR a 'Bollywood movie.'

Jimmy Kimmel Calls RRR A 'Bollywood' Movie

S.S. Rajamouli's masterpiece is a tale of two Indian revolutionaries that explores their friendship away from home while they fight ruthless British dominance. Headlined by Ram Charan and Jr, NTR, the Telugu movie was released across the world in five different languages - Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, Kannada, and Hindi. However, it remains to be an authentic blockbuster from the South.

Jimmy Kimmel opened the Oscars evening with Naatu Naatu's iconic performance. He said, "This year we are not gonna play you off stage instead we have a group of performers from the movie RRR who are going to dance you offstage." Later, while talking about the movie, he went on to call RRR a 'Bollywood' movie. And of course, this didn't go well with the netizens and Twitteratis.
