1. You need to be invited to the event

Firstly, only invited people can attend the Met Gala. The final list of guests is made by Anna Wintour, the editor-in-chief of Vogue Magazine and the co-chair of the Met Gala since 1995. People who receive an invitation are generally top celebrities, socialites, sportspersons, or fashion figures. Alia Bhatt will be seen at the Met Gala this year, and her attendance will her second year in a row.

In addition, you cannot enter just because you received an invite. All invitees have to pay for a hefty ticket to get entry to the fundraiser. You also pay for a table, which is a separate cost from a ticket. According to Time magazine, an invitation can cost anywhere around $75,000, while a table can cost upwards of $350,000!

2. You cannot disclose what happens at the Gala

3. You're not allowed to use phones inside the event venue

In order to implement the non-disclosure rule, attendees are not allowed to bring their phones to the event. Likewise, no pictures or videos can be uploaded to social media handles. No one can livestream the event publicly.

4. You have to get your outfit approved beforehand

As is popularly known, the Met Gala is famous for having unique and creative dress codes every year. While the invitees have to get them customised by top stylists, they also have to get these outfits pre-approved months before the event. This year, the theme is This year, the theme for the event is 'Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion.' The corresponding dress code for the evening is 'The Garden of Time', which is said to have been inspired by J. G. Ballard's short story from 1962.

5. You can't smoke near the venue or at the event
