Taking it to Twitter, Rishab Shetty revealed Kantara has been nominated under two categories - Best Picture and Best Actor. His tweet read,
"We are overjoyed to share that 'Kantara' has received 2 Oscar qualifications! A heartfelt thank you to all who have supported us. We look forward to share this journey ahead with all of your support. Can't wait to see it shine at the #Oscars #Kantara @hombalefilms #HombaleFilms."An excited Vijay Kiragandur, the producer of Kantara said,

This means that the
South blockbuster is now eligible for the Oscar members and jury to cast their vote for the film. The nominations for the Academy Awards 2023 will be announced on January 24 while the 95th Oscars Award ceremony will be held on March 12.
