Karan Johar to make a film on Dharmendra-Shabana Azmi Romance from RRKPK?
Karan Johar is busy promoting his upcoming romance tragedy, Dhadak 2. It marks the sequel to the 2018 romantic drama, with Siddhant Chaturvedi and Tripti Dimri headlining the upcoming film. During the promotions, the filmmaker opened up on making a standalone film on Dharmendra and Shabana Azmi`s love story in Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani.
Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani marked KJo`s comeback as a director after almost a decade and became a monstrous success. It starred Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt in leading roles. The film also featured veteran actors Dharmendra and Shabana Azmi, who were shown as long-lost lovers.
In an interview, the filmmaker opened up about making a standalone movie on the veteran actors` on-screen love story, keeping it their character-centric.

In a recent interview with the Times of India, the director-producer opened up on ranking all his directorial projects and ranked RRKPK at par with his initial movies.
He said, “It is right up there with My Name Is Khan and, of course, my first directorial Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, which remains special as it brought a smile to my father’s (the eminent producer Yash Johar) face. Our production house was suffering huge deficits when I made Kuch Kuch Hota Hai. It brought huge financial respite to my dad.”

While Ranveer and Alia`s chemistry was widely appreciated, with the two shattering many societal stereotypes, fans couldn`t take their eyes off Dharmendra and Shabana, especially after they shocked the audience with their unexpected kiss.
Rumours suggest Karan might have a special story for the two. Reacting to the buzz, he added, “There is a separate love story there. I may one day make a film on their love story in Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani.”

The 2023 romantic comedy marked Karan Johar`s directorial comeback after almost a decade. The last project he directed was Ae Dil Hai Mushkil in 2016.
The film was praised for its engaging screenplay, light-hearted storytelling with an underlying message, and incredible performances from a stellar ensemble. The film collected over 350 crore worldwide.
KJo`s next project as a producer is Dhadak 2, starring Siddhant Chaturvedi and Tripti Dimri. The film releases on August 1 in cinemas near you.
