Hema Malini mourns `dear friend` Pankaj Dheer`s death
The entertainment industry is mourning Pankaj Dheer`s passing. The veteran actor, known for his infamous role as Karna in BR Chopra`s Mahabharat, died of cancer on October 15. He was 68 years old.
Following his demise, many Bollywood celebrities are pouring in tributes and condolences to his family. For the uninitiated, Pankaj was survived by his wife, Anita Dheer, and son Nikitin Dheer, who is also an actor.
Veteran actress and politician Hema Malini also penned a heartfelt tweet along with some nostalgic photos. Esha Deol also paid a tribute to the late actor.

Taking it to X (formerly Twitter), the Dream Girl wrote, "I have lost a very dear friend today and am totally devastated. Pankaj Dheer, always so affectionate and enthusiastic about everything, a talented actor who won audience hearts with his portrayal of Karna in Mahabharat and so full of life, has breathed his last. He passed away after a spunky fight with cancer, which he was determined to overcome."

She further added, "To me, he was always so supportive, encouraging me in whatever I undertook and always by my side when I needed him. I will miss his constant support and presence in my life. My heart goes out in distress to his dear wife, Anita ji, who was the light of his life."

Malini`s daughter, Esha Deol, also paid a tribute to Dheer. She took to Instagram and wrote, "Deeply saddened to hear about the passing away of Pankaj uncle. A dear family friend and a wonderful human being, always full of joy: I will miss you & those fun conversations we had followed by your laughter. May your soul rest in peace. Deepest condolences, Aunty, to @niketan.dheer.5 and the family. Om Shanti."
The late actor`s last rites were held on Wednesday evening at Vile Parle. Several film and television celebrities, including Salman Khan, Hema Malini, Kushal Tandon, Mukesh Rishi, Sidharth Malhotra, Dipika Kakar and Shoaib Ibrahim, were seen paying their last respects.
