What Happened at the Awards Show in 2014

At the awards show in 2014, Salman Khan was hosting the event. Arijit Singh won an award for one of his songs and came up to receive the same. When he did, Salman made a casual remark on the manner in which he was dressed for the function and how sleepy he looked. To which Arijit replied, "Aap logon ne sula diya (You all made me sleep)". Salman took offense and even shouted at him on the show, only to later pass it off as humor. However, since then, Arijit Singh has lost many songs that he had sung for Khan's films, including some songs for Sultan and Bharat.

After this incident, Arijit Singh apologized to Salman on multiple occasions by calling him, texting him, and even meeting him personally. When none of that worked, Arijit wrote a Facebook post as a last resort. In the long post, he wrote, "Please do not remove the song that I sang for you in Sultan. You want anyone else to sing this song, absolutely fine but keep a version at least. I have sung enough songs sir. But I want to retire with at least one song of you keeping in my library. Please do not take away this feeling."
