Hansika Motwani responds to sister-in-law`s allegations
Telugu and Tamil film star Hansika Motwani has landed in the middle of an intense family feud turned legal dispute. The actress, along with her mother Jyoti Motwani, has approached the Bombay High Court to request the quashing of an FIR filed against them by her sister-in-law, television actress Muskan Nancy James.
Muskan, who married Hansika’s brother Prashant Motwani in 2020, filed a complaint alleging cruelty, domestic violence, criminal intimidation, and causing hurt under various sections of the Indian Penal Code.
The complaint paints a grim picture of familial discord and alleges that Muskan was subjected to mistreatment during her marriage. The couple, who once appeared to have a fairy-tale wedding, reportedly separated in 2022 due to growing personal differences.

However, Hansika and her mother have strongly refuted these claims, calling them a "malicious and fabricated narrative". According to their petition filed in court, the FIR is not rooted in truth but is instead a retaliatory action following a financial dispute.
The Koi Mil Gaya actress alleges that she had loaned ₹27 lakh to Muskan and Prashant to support their wedding expenses. When she demanded repayment, Muskan allegedly responded by initiating criminal proceedings to pressurise the Motwani family.

Her petition also reportedly states, “The FIR appears to be a retaliatory measure aimed at pressuring the petitioner and her family into a financial settlement in the ongoing matrimonial dispute.”
Hansika Motwani further stated in her plea that the criminal case has been blown out of proportion and is a clear misuse of legal provisions in what is essentially a marital dispute. She emphasised that the accusations are aimed at harassing her family and damaging her public image.
In February 2025, Hansika and Jyoti were granted anticipatory bail by the sessions court in Mumbai. Now, the matter is set to be heard by the Bombay High Court on July 3, where they hope to get the FIR dismissed.
The case has caught the attention of the media and fans alike, as it brings personal family tensions into the spotlight. With reputations and relationships on the line, this legal showdown is shaping up to be more than just a courtroom battle—it’s a real-life drama with Bollywood-level intrigue.
