Kangana Ranaut and Hansal Mehta
Social media has once again become a battleground for Bollywood personalities as filmmaker Hansal Mehta and actress Kangana Ranaut engaged in a heated exchange. The controversy arose in the wake of the recent vandalism and demolition of comedian Kunal Kamra’s performance venue in Mumbai. While Mehta vocally condemned the attack on Kamra, his selective silence on past incidents—specifically, the demolition of Kangana`s Mumbai house—was called out by netizens, leading to a war of words between the two.
Hansal Mehta’s condemnation of this incident prompted a social media user to question why he had not shown the same level of support when Kangana Ranaut’s Bandra home was demolished in 2020 by the BMC under the then-Uddhav Thackeray-led Shiv Sena government. This comparison sparked a response from Mehta, followed by a fiery rebuttal from Kangana.

Mehta’s response implied that Kamra’s situation was a direct attack on free speech, whereas Kangana’s case involved alleged illegal construction. However, his remarks did not sit well with Kangana, who quickly fired back.
Resharing Hansal Mehta’s tweet, Kangana detailed the trauma she faced when her house was demolished. She wrote, "They called me names like haramkhor, threatened me, served a notice late in the night to my watchman and next morning before courts could open, bulldozers demolished the entire house. High court called the demolition completely illegal."

She further accused Mehta of hypocrisy, stating, "They laughed at it and raised a toast to my pain and public humiliation. It seems your insecurity and mediocrity has not only made you bitter and stupid but it had blinded you as well. It’s not some third-class series or atrocious films that you make. Don’t try to sell your dumb lies and agendas here in the matters related to my ordeals. Stay out of it."
In response to Kangana’s sharp words, Hansal Mehta simply replied, "Get well soon."
Kangana Ranaut’s Bandra bungalow was demolished by the BMC in September 2020, shortly after she publicly criticised the then-Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray and the Shiv Sena. The civic body cited alleged illegal construction as the reason for the demolition, but the timing of the action, right after her verbal spat with the ruling party, raised suspicions of political vendetta. The Bombay High Court later ruled the demolition as illegal.

Kangana Ranaut and Hansal Mehta’s Social Media Clash
The argument started when Hansal Mehta criticised the recent attack on comedian Kunal Kamra’s performance venue, The Habitat Studio, in Mumbai. Kamra had made jokes about Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, which led to outrage among Shinde’s Shiv Sena supporters. In retaliation, Shiv Sena workers vandalised the venue, and the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) later demolished parts of the building, citing alleged building violations.Hansal Mehta’s condemnation of this incident prompted a social media user to question why he had not shown the same level of support when Kangana Ranaut’s Bandra home was demolished in 2020 by the BMC under the then-Uddhav Thackeray-led Shiv Sena government. Hansal Mehta’s Response
Responding to the social media query, Hansal Mehta dismissed the comparison between Kunal Kamra’s case and Kangana Ranaut’s ordeal. He stated, "Was her house vandalised? Did goons enter her premises? Did they do this to challenge her freedom of expression or for alleged FSI violations? Please enlighten me. Maybe I don’t know the facts."Mehta’s response implied that Kamra’s situation was a direct attack on free speech, whereas Kangana’s case involved alleged illegal construction.
