Former NCT Member Taeil Indicted Without Detention in Sexual Assualt Case

NCT`s Taeil
Moon Tae-il, known as Taeil, a former member of the K-pop group NCT, has been formally indicted without detention on charges of aggravated quasi-rape. This indictment stems from allegations that he and two acquaintances sexually assaulted an intoxicated woman in June 2024.
On January 28, 2025, the Seoul Central District Prosecutor`s Office`s Women and Child Crime Investigation Division 1, led by Director General Kim Ji-hye, indicted Taeil and his two accomplices without detention under the Act on the Punishment of Sexual Violence. The charges pertain to aggravated quasi-rape, which involves committing rape while in possession of a weapon or when two or more people act together to assault a victim incapable of resisting.

Taeil debuted in 2016 with NCT U and was an active member of both NCT and its sub-group NCT 127. Prior to these allegations, he had been involved in a motorcycle accident in August 2023, which led to a temporary suspension of his activities.
As of now, Taeil and his co-accused await further legal proceedings. The case has garnered significant attention, with fans and the public expressing a mix of shock and disappointment. Allegations and Initial Investigation
In June 2024, a woman reported to the Seoul Bangbae Police Station that she had been sexually assaulted by Taeil and two non-celebrity acquaintances while she was intoxicated. In August 2024, SM Entertainment, NCT`s parent company, announced Taeil`s departure from the group due to the seriousness of the allegations.
