Drishyam director Jeethu Joseph warns makers of Ajay Devgn starrer
The Malayalam film industry is known for its edge-of-the-seat thriller movies, and one such example is Jeethu Joseph`s directorial Drishyam. Headlined by Mohanlal, the movie took the nation by storm and became a monstrous blockbuster of 2013.
Drishyam was later adapted by Bollywood and remade in Hindi by Nishikant Kamat. The Hindi version was headlined by Ajay Devgn with Shriya Saran, Rajat Kapoor, and Tabu in pivotal roles. It received immense love and became a box office hit of 2015.
After its sequel in both Malayalam and Hindi, the makers are now coming up with a third instalment of the thriller drama. While the Mohanlal starrer is yet to be announced, director Jeethu Joseph has warned the Bollywood makers against shooting for it first.
Jeethu Joseph`s warning to Bollywood
The South Indian director recently confessed that he initially refused the Hindi version of Drishyam 3 to be made ahead of the Malayalam version. Joseph also confirmed that if Ajay`s film is made ahead of Mohanlal`s, he and his team will seek legal actions.

"There were demands on making Malayalam and Hindi versions together, but we haven’t decided on those matters. There were initially some plans to start in Hindi first, but after a hint was given that this would be dealt with legally, they backed off from it," the filmmaker said.
For the uninitiated, reports of Ajay Devgn`s Drishyam 3 being under production were doing the rounds. However, Joseph, who is the original screenwriter of the thriller drama, is still in the process of writing the third part.
The Malayalam version is expected to go on floors this October.
More about the Drishyam franchise
It all started with a brilliant screenplay by Jeethu Joseph, the mastermind behind the Malayalam blockbuster starring Mohanlal, Meena and Asha Sarath. It went on to collect over 75 crore gross worldwide.
It also became the longest-running Malayalam film in the United Arab Emirates, being showcased for 125 days. Drishyam became the highest-grossing Malayalam film until it was surpassed by Pulimurugan in 2016.
The Bollywood version of Drishyam 3 will star Ajay Devgn and Tabu. It will be helmed by Abhishek Pathak and produced by Kumar Mangat. If reports were to be believed, the film will see a theatrical release on October 2, 2026.
