Netflix upsets fans with censored version of Dhurandhar
After creating waves at the box office, Dhurandhar has finally been released on OTT. The Aditya Dhar directorial is now streaming on Netflix, but instead of being excited, fans are rather disappointed.
The OTT version of the spy espionage drama has ignited criticism among viewers. Fans voiced frustration over changes made in the OTT version with muted dialogues, unexpected censorship, and content trimming on Netflix.
The film that first arrived in cinemas on December 5 saw Ranveer Singh, Arjun Rampal, Akshaye Khanna, Sanjay Dutt, Sara Arjun, and R. Madhavan in pivotal roles.
Netizens criticise Dhurandar on OTT
Shortly after the film was available to stream on Netflix, viewers expressed disappointment about muted dialogues and some scenes being trimmed and censored.
Nearly 10 minutes of footage from Dhurandhar was trimmed, despite the platform`s adult-only audience. The reaction comes amid expectations of an uncut version being released on OTT, given the maturity of the viewers.

Several posts highlighted the contradiction of censoring content when the movie is already certified for adults.

One user wrote, “You certify the film as A, but you have muted/censored words! Like, are we a bunch of 5-year-olds or what? Everyone in this app is over 18; there’s no meaning in watching a film with lots of cuts and censoring. You’re just stealing the natural raw vibe from it.”
Another user wrote, "Damn, was hoping for an uncut version; this has muted the cursed words, same as the theatre one." A third comment read, "Why are the abuses censored?"
Some users even drew parallels with Ranbir Kapoor`s Animal and Shahid Kapoor`s starrer Kabir Singh, which were released uncensored on OTT.
Notably, Dhurandhar`s digital version also comes with a compromised run time. A user highlighted, “Why have you trimmed 10 minutes?” The missing scenes have impacted the overall narrative of the film.
Despite the backlash, the Ranveer Singh-starrer spy drama continues to draw impeccable attention on OTT. Dhurandhar is now streaming on Netflix.
