After soaring high on the success of Pathaan,
Deepika Padukone has several exciting projects lined up. One of which is Rohit Shetty's Singham Again. The director welcomed the actress into his cop universe during Cirkus promotions. The news spread like wildfire, and fans are excited to see Deepika as Shetty's first ever female cop. Now, the reports suggest she will play Ajay Devgn's sister in the much-anticipated action drama.
Singham Again stars
Ajay Devgn, Kareena Kapoor, Akshay Kumar, and Ranveer Singh in prominent roles. With Deepika Padukone being a new entrant to the spectacular ensemble, the Rohit Shetty movie looks like a full-fledged entertainer.
The filmmaker had roped in Vicky Kaushal to play one of the cops in
Singham Again. However, the actor had to walk out of the project due to scheduling issues. The shooting of Singham's third installment clashed with Vicky's Chhava, a Laxman Utekar directorial.
A source close to the development revealed some interesting details about Deepika Padukone's role in the movie.
"Deepika Padukone is all excited for Rohit Shetty's Singham Again. She will be playing the first female cop in the Rohit Shetty Universe and has already started prep work for this action-packed part. Deepika's character is more along the lines of a Lady Singham and has the arc of being Ajay Devgn's sister in the film," said the source.
The source further added Rohit Shetty wanted the
female cop to be from Singham's family, as he wanted to establish the character and people around him who were patriotic and willing to serve the nation.
"It's a well-written role and more than just a cameo. It's more like a proper extended appearance for Deepika in Singham, and she will be shooting for around 35 to 40 days," the source further added.
There's a new and exciting addition to Shetty's cop universe.
Tiger Shroff will be seen in a cameo in Singham Again. As he is welcomed into the cop universe, the filmmaker is planning to make a standalone cop movie with Shroff.
Singham Again is slated to go on the floors in September and will see a theatrical release in August 2024.
