Nitanshi Goel at Cannes 2025
The French Riviera is buzzing, and this time, a young Indian talent is turning heads! Nitanshi Goel, fondly known as Phool Kumari from the acclaimed film "Laapataa Ladies", has just made a spectacular entrance on the red carpet at the prestigious 78th Cannes Film Festival. The 17-year-old`s debut is already making waves, and it`s easy to see why.
The design was a striking blend of history and modernity. Adding to its grandeur was a long, flowing train that created a visual treat. The gown’s architectural silhouette was further enhanced by its voluminous middle section, while a fitted bodice and strapless neckline provided a smart contrast. This avant-garde look certainly made a mark.
Wisely, Nitanshi kept her styling minimal, allowing the magnificent gown to take centre stage. Her hair was elegantly pulled back into a sleek ponytail, complemented by refined makeup featuring a natural dewy base and a subtle pop of colour on her lips. Understated yet elegant jewels from CaratLane completed the ensemble, maintaining a perfect balance. In a bold and successful move, especially considering Cannes` new dress code, Nitanshi embraced the drama.

For her debut at the Cannes India Pavilion, the Laapataa Ladies star paid a beautiful tribute to iconic Indian actresses. The standout element of her look was a unique, custom-made pearl hair accessory by Be Abhika. This exquisite piece featured cascading pearl strands adorned with miniature photo frames of legendary figures such as Madhubala, Rekha, Sridevi, Vyjayanthimala, Hema Malini, Waheeda Rehman, and Nutan. Each gold frame held a black-and-white image of these evergreen superstars, allowing Nitanshi to proudly represent Indian cinema`s rich heritage.
Complementing this thoughtful hairpiece, Nitanshi wore a custom pre-draped saree, also by Jade by Monica and Karishma. In a soft ivory palette, the ensemble celebrated "innocence, elegance, and storytelling through Indian craft." The saree featured a fluid, pre-constructed drape with an extended trail and was adorned with delicate bow embroidery, cascading 3D floral accents, and subtle paisley motifs created using an ancient resist-dyeing technique. The look was perfected with an intricately handcrafted blouse detailed with pearls and beads, reminiscent of vintage Indian heirlooms. Celebrity stylists Shrey Vaishnav and Urja Amin were the creative forces behind this poised and fresh look, which Nitanshi completed with thoughtful, minimal bow-shaped earrings.
