Popular television actress Shubhangi Atre, celebrated for her role as Angoori Bhabi in Bhabiji Ghar Par Hain!, is facing a difficult personal time. Her ex-husband, Piyush Poorey, sadly passed away on Saturday, April 19, 2025. Reports indicate he succumbed to liver cirrhosis after battling the illness for some time. Piyush worked as a digital marketing professional.
Despite her grief, Shubhangi demonstrated professionalism by resuming her shooting schedule for Bhabiji Ghar Par Hai! on Sunday, April 20. Sources mentioned that she and Piyush were not in contact at the time of his death.
Shubhangi and Piyush tied the knot in their hometown, Indore, in 2003. They welcomed their daughter, Ashi, around 2005/2006. Ashi is currently pursuing her studies in the US. The couple shared over two decades together before encountering difficulties. They had been living separately for nearly a year before their divorce was finalised on February 5, 2025, just months before Piyush`s passing.
In an earlier interview, Shubhangi had candidly spoken about their separation. “It was painful. I was fully invested in the relationship. Over time, Piyush and I developed irreconcilable differences," she revealed.
She also highlighted Piyush`s significant support early in her career, noting he once left his job to help manage their home and daughter while she focused on acting opportunities like Kasautii Zindagii Kay and Kasturi.
Reflecting on marriage, Shubhangi previously stated, “Respect, companionship, trust, and friendship are the pillars of a strong marriage. But sometimes, giving each other space to focus on individual lives and careers becomes necessary."
