Arjun Rampal on playing ISI Major Iqbal in Dhurandhar
Arjun Rampal is currently soaring high on the success of Dhurandhar. The actor played ISI Major Iqbal and won over the audience with his incredible performance.
As the film continues to see full houses in cinemas, many are in awe of the entire cast`s acting, including Arjun`s portrayal of the ruthless villain.
But did you know he wanted to get out of the character and felt horrible playing the ISI mastermind, the menace behind many attacks, including the 26/11 terror attacks in Mumbai?
In a recent interview, Arjun opened up on how, while he loved the story of the film, he shared how his cold character took an emotional toll on him and his longing for being detached from the role after wrapping the film.

He shared, “I wanted to get out of the character as soon as I could. One of the important reasons to do it was that it is an important film to do."
"To see the event is one thing; what happened behind the scenes to see those events taking place is something that would excite me as an audience. I felt horrible when you were doing it because you love your country so much, but I guess that’s what an actor’s job is, and you just dive into it," Rampal added.
Arjun`s character, Major Iqbal, plays an ISI chief in Dhurandhar, who is shown to be the handler of the terrifying 26/11 terror attacks in Mumbai. That scene left the audience in a rage, with silence echoing in the cinema halls.
Dhurandhar box office collection
Helmed by Aditya Dhar, the film is a spy espionage drama inspired by true events. It is based on the Lyari camp in Karachi, Pakistan, and how an Indian spy blends in with the terror gangs to infiltrate the terrorist mindset.
Ranveer Singh leads the film, with Akshaye Khanna, Sanjay Dutt, Sara Arjun, R. Madhavan, and Arjun Rampal playing pivotal roles. The film also sees some key characters played by Gaurav Gera, Saumya Tandon, Danish Pandor, and Rakesh Bedi.
Talking about Dhurandhar`s box office collection, the film has entered the 600 crore club in 19 days in India. As per Jio Studios, Dhurandhar`s collection stood at 619.3 crore (net) as of Wednesday morning.
The second instalment of Dhurandhar will see a theatrical release on March 19, 2026.
