Aasif Sheikh gets candid on his bond with Salman Khan
When Bhabiji Ghar Par Hain! When Fun On The Run hit theatres, audiences didn’t just laugh at Vibhuti Narayan Mishra’s antics - they started buzzing about something deeper: the remarkable Aasif Sheikh and Salman Khan bond that has quietly shaped parts of Hindi cinema for nearly 35 years.
Long before the slapstick humour of Bhabiji Ghar Par Hain made Aasif a household name on television, he was a face in films - and it was in this early phase that his path crossed with Salman Khan’s.
Both actors stepped into Bollywood around the late 1980s, when Salman was on the brink of superstar status and Aasif was carving out his own space in the industry.
Despite very different journeys - Salman quickly ascending to blockbuster fame and Aasif steadily building his craft - their connection endured.
In interviews, Aasif has been candid about how the superstar`s support helped him through lean times, even offering chances when work was hard to come by.
Their on-screen collaborations span beloved films from multiple decades, including Karan Arjun, Auzaar, Pyaar Kiya To Darna Kya, Bandhan, Dil Ne Jise Apna Kaha, Shaadi Karke Phas Gaya Yaar, Bharat, and the more recent Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan.
And although they don’t work together every year, the warmth between them remains unmistakable - Aasif often describes their interactions as “easy and unchanged” whenever they meet.
One especially colourful moment from their shared past involves a story Sheikh told about filming Bandhan in 1998.
Recalling a wild ride on set, he said “We were young then, and Salman had an Esteem at that time. He made me sit next to him, and he started driving everywhere on the footpath… I said, ‘Salman, pakde jayenge (we’ll get caught).’ He said, ‘So what if we get caught? ‘Don’t worry.’ Then a traffic cop stopped us… and the cop didn’t even recognise him.”
His humour shines through the story - but beyond the laughs, it also reflects the easy friendship that has stood the test of industry pressures and decades of change.
Even today, as Aasif celebrates his film success and Salman continues to headline major cinema projects, their story resonates with fans who love seeing long-term bonds in an industry known for its fleeting alliances.
