‘Munnabhai MBBS’ happened in 2003 and introduced us to one of the finest film-makers in cinematic history named Rajkumar Hirani.
The refreshingly clean, witty and hilarious comedy has acquired cult status over the years and has led to the director helming a successful franchise with the success of its equally entertaining sequel, ‘Lage Raho Munnabhai’.
He took a break and then went on to make one of Aamir Khan’s hugest blockbusters, ‘3 Idiots’. With the movie’s success, Hirani was the dream director for every young actor who wished to make it big in filmdom.
The question is, what is it about Hirani that the audience and the industry connects to?
It’s the ability to find humour in the most mundane situations and offer contemporary entertainers, which has become the reckoning force for the director. Look at ‘PK’. How much of an insight did it offer about our blind faith and superstitions without slipping out of line even once.
We can’t wait to see the director showcase his prowess once again as he is all set to helm the third installment of the Munnabhai series with Sanjay Dutt and Arshad Warsi and the Sanjay-Dutt biopic with Ranbir Kapoor.
