Soon after actor/producer Anushka Sharma and husband Virat Kohli announced their fundraising campaign InThisTogether, following the former’s 33rd birthday on May 1st, the power couple have managed to raise five crores within five days of their announcement on their social media networks.
The campaign, in association with Ketto.org, aims at raising seven crores through crowdsourcing, which will be given to ACT Action Covid-19 team Grants. The funds will be utilised in procurement of beds, oxygen, adequate medical resources and manpower, and necessary vaccination for all.
In addition to their efforts, the power couple have also generously donated about two crores towards COVID 19 relief funds.
Anushka took to Instagram to thank all those who came forward to donate generously. She wrote, “India needs you and we thank you wholeheartedly for every bit of contribution that you have made to save lives. We will win this battle against the pandemic. We shall do everything to get through this, together.”
In a heartfelt post, the ‘Paatal Lok’ producer also thanked the frontline workers for their relentless efforts and dedicated services. She asserted, “We’d like to say a big thank you to all our healthcare and frontline workers, their dedication is truly inspiring. You continue to risk your lives for the nation, and for that, we are eternally grateful to you. You are the real heroes, for Virat and I, and for the nation. Thank you once again.”
