Veteran actor Achyut Potdar from 3 Idiots dies at 91
Achyut Potdar, the veteran actor who became a household name with his dialogue "Kehna kya chahte ho?" in 3 Idiots, passed away on Monday. He was 91 when he breathed his last. Potdar was suffering from age-related issues and was admitted to Thane`s Jupiter Hospital. His funeral will take place in Thane on August 19.
Although he had been in the entertainment industry for decades, it was his role in 3 Idiots that gainedhim immense recognition. In the film, he played the role of a professor.
In an iconic scene featuring Aamir Khan, R. Madhavan, and Sharman Joshi, the late actor`s memorable dialogues, "Kya baat hai" and "Kehna kya chahte ho?" became wildly popular. These are still widely used on social media as memes.
He joined the armed forces a year after his marriage through the Emergency Commission. It was in 1967 that he retiredwith the rank of captain. He later became a company man and was loyal to Indian Oil Corporation for over 25 years. He retired at the age of 58 in 1992.
