The Bollywood Report Card 2019-Pits of the 4th Quarter

If you were expecting a movie directed by Prabhudeva to hold the slightest amount of intellect, the joke is on you. Stuck in a pile of ragged scripts from the 80s, the character of Chulbul Pandey has had an unceremonious death with this film. Hope, we dont see anymore of this franchise in the new decade.

Emraan Hashmi continued his run of flops with The Body being the latest addition. Despite having a competent team on board, the lack of marketing and buzz hardly drew the crowds to the theatre. Also, due to the dismal performance of The Bard of Blood starring Hashmi and Sobhita Dhulipala, fans werent very receptive towards the new film.

The troll brigade came down very hard on Arjun Kapoors portrayal of a Maratha warrior that it took a toll on the film, at large. It was unfair of the fans to not have given Panipat a chance to prove its potential because director Ashutosh Gowariker had definitely made a much more commendable film than Mohenjo Daro. Please do watch it when it lands on a streaming platform to witness Kriti Sanons career-best performance.

Why would a franchise still find producers without substantial scripts? Not as if Vidyut Jamvwal is really a box-office favourite, is he?

The movie definitely promised as per what its title suggested. Which is the most polite point one can make about this mindless drivel.

Motichoor Chaknachoor is testament that merely the presence of Nawazuddin Siddiqui is not enough to salvage a mediocre film.

Marjaavaan is the kind of a film that had no business being made. Literally, nobody even asked for it. The promotional interviews before the release of the film were definitely much more entertaining, in comparison

Sunny Singh is no Kartik Aaryan, nor was Ujda Chaman anything remotely close to Bala to stand a chance.

Like most Chinese products, this Rajkummar Rao starrer too was faulty and required a portion of the magic soup that featured in the film.

Laal Kaptaan was yet another addition to Saif Ali Khans string of flops, despite the actors earnest performance as a Bounty Hunter-inspired Naga Sadhu.

This film was very niche and urban to cater to an audience hungry on masala pot-boilers. Despite stellar performances by the ensemble cast, the film failed to last more than a week at the theatres.

Presenting the biggest upsets from Bollywood between October and December 2019.
