The Bollywood Report Card 2017-Pits of the 3rd Quarter

What was touted as Sanjay Dutts grand return to the big-screen after three years, Bhoomi sunk at the box without a trace. Boasting of a storyline that can be dated to the movies in the 80s, Bhoomi was a loud and unenjoyable affair.

The idea of casting Shraddha Kapoor for the titular role itself was a blunder. Haseena Parkar was a disaster waiting to happen.

Lucknow Central was an unexciting reference from the Hollywood classic Shawshank Redemption. Guess the audiences are too used to watching Farhan Akhtar play the urban and classy man, that seeing him otherwise is not a pleasant sight.

Had Kangana Ranaut retained writer Apurva Asranis version of the film and concentrated her marketing campaigns more around the films story than her personal life, Simran wouldve been a game changer for the actress. We only hope she pulls her socks up before its late.

Daddy was a decent effort by Arjun Rampal to up his graph as an actor. But the lack of publicity was what led to a poor response at the box-office. And can anyone explain why would you choose Farhan Akhtar to play the role of a gangster based on Dawood Ibrahim?

A Gentleman belongs to the kind of movies that should never be made. There was nothing redeeming about this pointless film that starred Sidharth Malhotra and Jacqueline Fernandez. Absolutely nothing.

The failure of Jab Harry Met Sejal should simply drive two reminders to Shah Rukh Khan and Imtiaz Ali respectively. While SRK should start choosing scripts as per his age, Imtiaz needs to pen better and newer stories.

Just how many more times does Tiger Shroff expect us to overlook his lack of acting skills with his exemplary dancing and envious body as an excuse? Buck up, buddy.

Honestly, our Indian audiences do not deserve or understand a film like Jagga Jasoos. Director Anurag Basu went a bit too ambitious hoping he could give us an international-level entertainer. But, constant delays and last-minute post production activities took a toll on the film. We only hope that both Anurag and Ranbir Kapoor collaborate again with a better film.

Well, compiling the list of pits is both heart-breaking and frustrating. Because when you look at the films that have made it to this list, you wonder how and why do they get made in the first place. Heres taking a look at the films that have left us disappointed.
