if you havent heard of this directorial debut by Konkona Sen Sharma, youre living under a rock. Comprising of an ensemble cast, A Death in the Gunj feels like a classic Ruskin Bond novel come alive. Headed by a supreme performance by Vikrant Massey, the movie will leave you feeling melancholic but liberated.

In a country where cricket is religion and Sachin Tendulkar is revered as God, its hardly surprising that Sachin: A Billion Dreams met its due success.

Hindi Medium is Irrfan Khans moment of glory, all the way. But let us not diss the significant performances pitched in by his leading lady and Pakistani actress Saba Qamar alongwith other brilliant actors including Deepak Dobriyal, Amrita Singh and Tilotamma Shome. Highlighting the commercialisation of the education system and deep-set class prejudices, Hindi Medium touched chords like no other.

The Hindi dubbed version of the Telugu-Tamil bilingual has alone made upto 500 crores. Need we say more? Comprising of rich performances, brilliant visuals and a power-packed story-telling by director SS Rajamouli, hailing Baahubali 2 as a mammoth success would be an understatement.

Taapsee Pannu proved why she is the new-age feminist with this rather brave choice of a film. Naam Shabana helped the actress broaden her horizons as a performer, which was ably backed by an extended cameo featuring Akshay Kumar.

Its been a very disappointing quarter to be fair, but these five releases gave us some reason to cheer at the movies. Heres a breakdown of these films.
