Ten Bollywood Actors who do not Endorse Fairness Products

The chocolate boy of Bollywood is known to take a strong stance on causes that he does not believe in. Fortunately fairness creams fall under them.

Ranbir apparently refused a fairness product for men saying that it sets racist stereotypes.

In a famous interview, Randeep was quoted to have said, "Its a colonial hangover to be fair. India, as a country, has an obsession with fairness, whereas the entire world is lying under the sun and getting a tan. I think men should be tall, dark and handsome and not tall, fair and handsome."

The actor who is known for endorsing social causes is clearly not interested in endorsing fairness products.

The new-age feminist actor apparently refused to attend an event in Jaipur because the sponsors, on board were a fairness cream brand.

The dusky siren is quite comfortable in her own skin and has said no to promoting a fairness cream brand. She believes it is racist.

The actress who never fails to speak her mind, was quoted to have said, "I endorse an anti-ageing cream because I do feel I have to take better care of my skin with age. But I am clear that fairness is not something I promote with them. In fact, I would love to endorse a cream which makes me darker, I am always trying to get a tan."

The feisty and outspoken actress swore in 2015 to never endorse a fairness product. In her defense, she was quoted to have said, 'I would not endorse products that propagate racist and sexist beliefs, and propagate social taboo. I don't want to endorse products that propagate fair skin and all. I will not propagate anything that says this is right or wrong.'

For the Queen, fairness creams can take a hike. The actress who believes that she is also responsible in building the society through her work, had quoted in an interview, four years ago saying, 'Ever since I was a kid, I have never understood the concept of fairness. Especially, in such a case, as a celebrity, what kind of an example would I be setting for younger people? I have no regrets about turning this offer down. As a public figure, I have responsibilities. My sister Rangoli Ranaut is dusky, yet beautiful. If I go ahead and be part of this campaign, then, in a way, I would be insulting her. If I can't do that to my sister, then how can I do it to the entire nation?'

Rightly hailed as the world's most beautiful woman, Aishwarya had initially endorsed a fairness product while starting out as a young starlet. However, over the years, she has stated that she would only endorse products that support her beliefs.

In a country as ours that is obsessed with fairness, it is an everyday identity crisis for several Indian youngsters who face low self-esteem and lack confidence due to their skin colour. As actors, it becomes a huge responsibility in helping to make a difference. We take a look at ten Bollywood actors who did not let their professional pursuits come in the way of their beliefs, and hence, turned down all offers to endorse fairness products.
