Team Planet Radio City picks the Top Ten Bollywood Movies of 2016

And the Numero Uno spot goes to 'Pink'. You know it's a good film when the men of our team give a thumbs up to this Amitabh Bachchan starrer. As much as the movie belonged to the legendary thespian, the actual stars were the three beautiful girls, Taapsee Pannu, Kirti Kulhari and Andrea Tariang.

Based on the inspiring story of brave heart airhostess Neerja Bhanot, the Ram Madhvani directed flick gave Sonam Kapoor, her first credible hit. Sad, that this brilliant film falls one spot short from the number 1 position.

The first hit of 2016 was quite a popular choice among Team PRC for the third position. Based on the true story of the largest civil evacuation ever carried out following the Gulf War in 1990, 'Airlift' upped our fanfare for Akshay Kumar. Not to forget the surprise package that was Nimrat Kaur.

How could we be left behind when an entire country is bowled over by the charm of 'Dangal'? Bollywood's official Santa Claus, Aamir Khan took a backseat in this Nitesh Tiwari venture and let the girls -read Fatima Sana Shaikh, Sanya Malhotra, Zaira Wasim and Suhani Bhatnagar do the heavy lifting for the number 4 spot. Literally.

Good music, a credible story and faultless performances. Enough to make 'Kapoor and Sons', deserving of the number 5 spot amongst our team.

Honestly, this biopic on the life of Indian skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni had our team divided on opinion. While some complained about the movie feeling incomplete, some lauded the film solely for the brilliant performance rendered by Sushant Singh Rajput, therefore placing the film at number 6.

Number 7 goes to Akshay Kumar's 'Rustom'. The movie, a Neeraj Pandey production had all the right ingredients to set the cash registers ringing at the box office.

'Udta Punjab' clinches the number 8 spot amongst our team members. This black-comedy by director Abhishek Chaubey starring Shahid Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, Kareena Kapoor Khan and Diljit Dosanjh, was a mirror that reflected the ugly drug menace in the state of Punjab.

At number 9 is director Gauri Shinde's second venture, 'Dear Zindagi'. Exploring the ugly truths of depression through the lead protagonist Kaira, played superlatively by Alia Bhatt, 'Dear Zindagi' was one of the first hits post demonitisation.

At number 10, is Vidya Balan's 'Kahaani 2'. Centered on a grappling story of child abuse, the Sujoy Ghosh directorial reminded us that the talent of Balan demands good scripts.

With just less than 48 hours to go as we ring in 2017, Team Planet Radio City is all kicked up for the brand new brigade of Bollywood releases that will follow. But not before picking up their favorite flicks from 2016. Here's our lowdown on the Top Ten Movies of 2016.
