Besides 'MS Dhoni: The Untold Story', some of his successful films include, 'Kai Po Che', 'Shuddh Desi Romance', 'PK', 'Kedarnath', 'Sonchiriya' and 'Chhichhore'. His last film 'Dil Bechara' which was the Indian adaptation of 'The Fault in Our Stars', is in post production.

It took Sushant one-and-a-half years to prepare for his role in 'MS Dhoni: The Untold Story'. He is known to have practiced Dhoni's famous helicopter at least 200-300 times a day. His dedication and commitment towards the project showed on-screen. He was nominated in the Best Actor category at several award functions for the said role, but Shahid Kapoor bagged all the laurels for his performance in 'Udta Punjab'

He has also participated on popular dance reality shows owing to his tremendous dancing prowess.

He moved to television and rose to fame when he starred opposite actor and former girlfriend Ankita Lokhande in the popular TV show 'Pavitra Rishta'. The two actors reportedly fell in love on the sets of the TV show and were in a live-in relationship for more than six years, till they broke up in 2016 over reported rumours of Sushant's alleged affair with 'Raabta' co-star Kriti Sanon.

He started his career as a dancer under choreographer Shiamak Davar and went on to perform in the 2006 Commonwealth Games and Filmfare Awards.

He qualified for a scholarship and secured the 7th rank in All India Engineering Entrance Examination -AIEEE 2003 and got enrolled in the Delhi College of Engineering in the Mechanical Engineering stream.

A beauty with brains, the actor cleared 11 national engineering exams, including the Indian School of Mines at Dhanbad. He was the national Olympiad winner in Physics.

He was born in Patna and was the youngest and the only son after four elder sisters. He lost his mother when he was in Grade 12.
