Seven Bollywood Actresses Who Are Also Successful Producers

Vidya recently turned producer for her short film, 'Natkhat', which has been well-received by netizens all over the world.

Kangana founded her own banner Manikarnika Films in 2020. She hasn't announced any film yet under the banner.

As the founder of her banner KA Productions, Deepika first helmed director Meghna Gulzar's 'Chhapaak' and even starred in the lead. The film was a box-office failure though. Deepika is also likely to co-produce her next film with Karan Johar's Dharma Productions, which is directed by Shakun Batra and also stars Siddhant Chaturvedi and Ananya Panday. She is also-credited as the co-producer of hubby Ranveer Singhs 83, directed by Kabir Khan.

Unlike her contemporaries, PC is helping regional cinema come to the forefront as a producer. She has lent her weight to two National Award winning Marathi films 'Ventilator' and 'Paani' and has produced several films in Bhojpuri, Punjabi, Assamese and Nepali.

Clearly as a producer, Anushka Sharma is breaking newer grounds by backing scripts and storytellers who are unafraid to experiment with genres and go against formulaic cinema. Having co-founded Clean Slate Filmz with her brother Karnesh Sharma, Anushka has helmed three theatrical releases, 'NH10', 'Phillauri' and 'Pari' and two digital releases, 'Paatal Lok' on Amazon Prime and 'Bulbbul' on Netflix.

Using her popular pseudonym Mrs. Funnybones, Khanna conceived Mrs. Funnybones Movies and put her weight behind 'PadMan' starring Akshay Kumar, Sonam Kapoor Ahuja and Radhika Apte. The film went on to win the National Award for Best Film on Social Issues.

A leading heroine of the 90s, Juhi co-founded Red Chillies Entertainment alongwith friend and co-star of several films, Shah Rukh Khan. In her right as a producer, Juhi has helmed multiple blockbusters including 'Om Shanti Om', 'Chennai Express', 'Dear Zindagi', 'Raees' and 'Badla'.

As rightly said by the wise, be the change you wish to see in the world. For decades, actresses and their careers were dictated by the box-office fate of their films or by their off-screen equations with the men around them. But that has changed. Since the past few years, several Bollywood leading heroines have shone in front of the arc lights and have also lent their weight behind the camera as producers. Here's looking at the journey of seven of them.
