Nothing Compares 2 U which was popularized by Sinead OConnor, was originally written and composed by Prince for one of his side projects, The Family.

Did you know that Prince played the guitar for Madonnas hit single, Like a Prayer? Unfortunately most of it was cut from the editing table.

Apparently his Purple Rain was composed at a duration of 11 minutes. A verse and chorus had to be cut, because the theme of money was deemed inappropriate for the song.

Prince started his career as a lyricist with Pepe Willie who formed the band 94 East in 1975. He signed his first contract with Warner Bros. Records in 1977 at the age of 18. He released his debut album For You one year later in 1978.

Despite his small frame at just 52, he was a talented basketball player and once played for one of the best school teams in the Minnesota state.
