Laxmmi Bomb, Dil Bechara, Bhuj: What You Need to Know about Disney Hotstars Seven Bollywood Releases

A romantic thriller directed by Faruk Kabir, 'Khuda Hafiz' stars Vidyut Jammwal and Shivalika Oberoi in the leads alongwith Annu Kapoor, Shiv Panditt, Nawab Shah and Aahana Kumra in supporting roles.

Initially scheduled for release in October 2019, the film was indefinitely post-poned as makers wanted to consider a digital release. Starring Kunal Khemu, Rasika Dugal and Gajraj Rao in key roles, the film is about a common man landing a suitcase stacked with bundles of Rs. 2000 notes. While he obediently seeks the owner of the bag, a lot of opportunistic hands are after him looking to seize their claim. The film is directed by Rajesh Krishnan.

Based on the life of an enigmatic stockbroker Harshad Mehta, Abhishek Bachchan will essay a suave businessman in 'The Big Bull'. Although the film was slated for release in October, the makers have decided to take the digital route. Produced by Ajay Devgn and Anand Pandit, the film also stars Ileana D'Cruz and Nikita Dutta.

Touted as filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt's comeback as a director, 'Sadak 2' is a sequel to the 1991 film starring Sanjay Dutt, Pooja Bhatt, Alia Bhatt and Aditya Roy Kapur. If the poster of the film is anything to go by, maybe this is a road movie traversing the journey of love.

Directed by noted TV personality Abhishek Dudhaiya, 'Bhuj: The Pride of India' stars Ajay Devgn, Sanjay Dutt, Sonakshi Sinha, Ammy Virk, Nora Fatehi and Sharad Kelkar. The film is based on the untold story of Squadron Leader Vijay Karnik and the brave women of Bhuj who played a major role in securing victory to the Indian side, during the 1971 Indo-Pak war.

The official remake of the 2011 Tamil film, 'Kanchana', 'Laxxmi Bomb' starring Akshay Kumar and Kiara Advani is the story of a man who gets possessed by the spirit of a transgender woman. The film marks the debut of director Raghava Lawrence who also starred in the Tamil original as the lead actor. The first look of Kumar's character was revealed on Navratri where he perfectly nails the look of a transwoman. Kumar also said that playing the character helped him in understanding gender equality better. The film was initially slated for an Eid release, but it is now likely to premiere on Disney+Hotstar around the Independence Day weekend.

The official Indian adaptation of John Green's best-selling novel, 'The Fault in Our Stars', 'Dil Bechara' is already a highly-anticipated release as it marks the last film starring heartthrob Sushant Singh Rajput, whose unfortunate suicide has left his fans devastated. It also marks the debut of newbie Sanjana Sanghi as the lead opposite Sushant and renowned casting director Mukesh Chhabra turns director with the film. The film also stars Saif Ali Khan and Swastika Mukherjee in key roles and is a love story between two young hearts ailing with cancer.

Given the current situation caused by an ongoing global pandemic, streaming giant Disney+Hotstar announced their stellar line-up of seven Bollywood films starring leading film actors, which have circumvented the traditional theatrical release. From Akshay Kumar-Kiara Advani starrer 'Laxmmi Bomb' to Ajay Devgn's 'Bhuj The Pride of India', from Sushant Singh Rajput's 'Dil Bechara' to Alia Bhatt's 'Sadak 2', Bollywood now seems to be warming upto digital presence.
