Know Your Star: Nimrat Kaur

After the success of 'The Lunchbox', Nimrat rejected over 27 to 30 roles before finally signing 'Airlift'. She will next be seen in Dasvi alongside Abhishek Bachchan and Yami Gautam.

She appeared in the fourth season of American thriller series Homeland as an ISI Agent named Tasneem Qureshi. She has also appeared in the second season of a British TV series named 'Wayward Pines'.

Nimrat has attended the Cannes Film Festival twice. Once for 'Peddlers' and then for 'The Lunchbox'.

Her debut film was in the year 2006 with an indie One Night With The King which was produced by director Anurag Kashyap. Her first Hindi film debut came with Peddlers in 2012.

She first came into limelight when she appeared in the music video of 'Tera Mera Pyar' by Kumar Sanu and 'Yeh Kya Hua' by Shreya Ghoshal in 2004.

She worked as a print model before becoming a theatre actress. She appeared in plays such as Baghdad Wedding, All About Women and Red Sparrow, working with directors namely Sunil Shanbag and Manav Kaul.

She is an alumni of the Lady Shri Ram College of Commerce, Delhi. While studying, she attended theatre as well.

Nimrat's father was in the Indian Army and was martyred in 1994 while fighting against terrorists in Kashmir. She has a younger sister Rubina who is a psychologist, based in Bangalore.

Nimrat Kaur is a tour de force not just in Bollywood but also in Hollywood. Having started out with as a leading face for a popular confectionary brand, Nimrat rose to fame with an appearance in singer Kumar Sanu's popular music video, 'Tera Mera Pyaar'. She stayed active in modelling and theatre before signing up as the leading lady in director Ritesh Batra's 'The Lunchbox opposite Irrfan Khan. The rest was history. Kaur also delivered breakthrough performances in the Hollywood TV show 'Homeland' and the Akshay Kumar-starrer, 'Airlift'.
