A philanthropist, the actor-musician launched the Saanjh Foundation in 2013 which conducts workshops on self-confidence, career development and mentoring for under-privileged students and senior citizens.

Winner of 3 BritAsia Awards, Diljit performed the cover of 'Ki Banu Duniya Da' alongwith evergreen icon Gurdas Mann for Season 4 of MTV Coke Studio, which currently enjoys over a 100 million views.

His Punjabi films 'Jatt and Juliet' and 'Punjab 1984' established him as the young superstar to watch out for. He made his Hindi debut as an actor with 'Udta Punjab' in 2016 for which he was awarded the Filmfare Award for Best Male Debut.

His break-out hit was 'Proper Patola', in collaboration with Badshah which crossed more than a million hits within a week of its release.

He made his film debut in 2011 with the Punjabi film, 'The Lion of Punjab'. Despite it flopping at the box-office, Dosanjh claimed his moment of fame with the club anthem, 'Lak 28 Kudi Da' where he also collaborated with emerging rapper Yo Yo Honey Singh.

He released his first musical album 'Ishq Da Uda Ada' in 2000.

He began his singing aspirations by singing devotional songs at the local Gurudwara.

He obtained formal education from Ludhiana's Shri Guru Harkrishan Public School.

His father, Balbir Singh, is a former employee of Punjab Roadways and his mother, Sukhwinder Kaur, is a homemaker. He is the middle child with an elder sister and a younger brother as his siblings.

Born on January 6, 1984 in Dosanjh Kalan, a district in Jalandhar, Punjab. His initial name was Daljit, but he changed it to Diljit.
