Cannes Day 1: Bollywoods Whose-Who Walked The Red Carpet Adding The Cultural Touch To The Film Festival

1. Deepika PadukoneOf course she had to make it to number one on the list. The actress wore a black and golden saree designed by Sabyasachi. Also a part of the Cannes Film Festival jury, Padukone bowed down gesturing a Namaste as she walked the red carpet. The Padmaavat actress looked like a diva as she gracefully stood among the jury members.Expressing her gratitude and how important this is to the Indian entertainment industry, the actress said, 'While it does feel like a personal victory, it also feels like a slightly larger victory for the South Asian communityhellip We can literally count on our fingertips the number of times anyone from India has been on the jury or has had the opportunity to represent the country at a platform such as this.'

2. R. MadhavanDonning a black shimmer suit designed by Manish Malhotra, the dapper actor looked all the more stylish as he walked the red carpet. Madhavan's movie Rocketry - The Nambi Effect will be screened at the Cannes Film Festival in Hindi, English and Tamil.Alongside this, other Indian movies like Godavari (Marathi), Alpha Beta Gamma (Hindi), Boomba Ride (Mishing), Dhuin (Maithili) and Niraye Thathakalulla Maram (Malayalam) will also be screened.

3. Urvashi RautelaEmbracing a white ruffle dress, the actress termed this as her "dream debut" as she walked down the red carpet. Urvashi looked surreal in white as she confidently waved at her fans present at the film festival.

4. A R RahmanThe global music icon wore a black bandhgala as he walked the red carpet. Rahman will be premiering his first directorial Le Musk at Cannes. He also shared a selfie with the south superstar Kamal Hassan. Both gave out royal vibes.

5. Mame KhanFolk singer and musician Mame Khan made a rather vibrant and stylish entry at Cannes. Popularly known for recreating the track Chaudhary alongside Amit Trivedi on Coke Studio, Mame Khan becomes the first Indian folk artist to walk the red carpet.

6. Tamannaah BhatiaSunkissed in black and white, the actress shared a glimpse of her attire she'd wear to Cannes. Tamannaah also chose a vibrant coloured suit paired with lavendar bodysuit as another outfit for the film festival. Personally, we thought her stylist/designer could've done far better since she's an actress who can pull off fashion really well. C'mon designers, we need to see Tamannah in something that's giving the oomph factor!

7. Nawazuddin SiddiquiIt is safe to say that the Sacred Games actor has come a long, long way in his career. "From representing films from India to representing India. What an honour," Nawaz wrote as he posted a picture on his Instagram along with Shekhar Kapur, Prasoon Joshi, and Anurag Thakur. Donning a black suit, the actor looked confident and stylish as he walked the red carpet.

Influencers such as Rahi Chaddha, Masoom Minawala, Malvika Sitlani, and Diipa Buller Khosla were also seen walking the red carpet. India has sure come a long way in terms of entertainment and fashion.
