Bandish Bandits, Four More Shots Please, Panchayat: Nominations for the Best Series Romance/Comedy: Hitlist OTT Awards

Panchayat mines humour from everyday conversations and the uncanny quirks of its characters to deliver a heartfelt, entertaining and honest show in the midst of an unsettling pandemic.

Mismatched is a harmless teenage drama featuring two of internets favourite darlings Prajakta Koli and Rohit Saraf. Their cute-sweet chemistry and relatibility made this show an instant hit amongst the much younger audiences.

This meta-drama featuring the glamourous mother and daughter duo, Neena Gupta and Masaba Gupta, is a light-hearted satire into their personal and professional lives. What is extremely refreshing is how the show offers an honest account of two women who navigate their way across life and relatiionships without judging them or placing them on a pedestal.

Despite several critics hailing the show as an unhealthy counterpart to Sex and the City, an Emmy Nomination in 2020 has brought in much-needed respectability to the credentials of the Four More Shots Please franchise. Season 2 saw the primary leads, played by Sayani Gupta, Kirti Kulhari, Bani J and Maanvi Gagroo deal with personal and professional challenges, while maintaining their winning game faces. If you ask women, the show fills them with more hope than youd like to credit it for.

Despite its several inconsistencies and an inevitable comparison to The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, Bhaag Beanie Bhaag starring Swara Bhasker is a brave attempt at placing women in an area largely marked by men, the stand up comedy scene. Also, the show serves as a routine reminder to just how brilliant is Bhasker as an actor despite the brickbats she tackles with, on Twitter

While Bandish Bandits was very much about the internal affairs within the household of a classical music-inclined family, it was hard to miss the breezy romance between Ritwik Bhowmik and Shreya Chaudhry playing Radhe and Tamanna, two artistes who set out on a journey of love and self-discovery, despite hailing from different schools of music.

Presenting the nominations for the Best Series: Romance/Comedy at the Radio City and Mid-Day presents Hitlist OTT Awards. These were the shows that brought us some laughter and smiles in an otherwise gloomy year.
