If there's one of the finest performers in the film industry who has raised the bar high for every other actor, it has to be Radhika Apte. With every project, the actress has showcased her incredible acting skills. The actress turns 38 tomorrow.

When the pandemic was at its peak and actors were out of jobs, Radhika Apte channeled her new-found passion into script writing and directing. The Sacred Games star recalled her core purpose for becoming an actor.

In an interview, she said, 'I didn't come here to be a star. I came here because I really liked to perform.' She confessed to becoming the victim of the rat race and losing sight of her purpose in the span of her 15-year career.

She further recalled the dry spells and how the pandemic made her fall in love with script writing. 'Studying scriptwriting is making me extremely happy. I am not very good at it yet. I have been learning from a few script editors and writers because I want to make something. I want to write and direct a project,' says Radhika.

While this move shouldn't be perceived as her full transition, Radhika added, 'I don't want to give up acting. It is my first love."

What prompted her to become a writer was how the industry stereotypes actors. She opened up about how, after Badlapur, she was being offered only one kind of role.

'This industry stereotypes people. I was [seen as an actor who could only play] a village girl for a long time, after Rakta Charitra and Shor in the City. Nobody would cast me in an urban role. Now, I am told that I have become too urban to be considered for certain roles. After Badlapur, I started getting offers for thrillers alone."

The Andhadhun actress has been longing to do a comedy film for quite some time now. However, her outspokenness has made the filmmakers and audience perceive her as a serious persona.

'Actually, I am not someone who talks seriously. I like to have fun and am not the kind of person that people think I am. I have explored comedy in theater but have never been offered a comic film. I am young. These are my best years, so I want to avail myself of every chance to learn."

Not only is she a spectacular actor, but there's a lot to learn from her as a professional as well. Radio City wishes Radhika Apte a very happy birthday.
