Old Bollywood movies had a charm of their own. While some stories would effortlessly make us cringe, others gave us some spectacular performances and pairs. One of them was Varsha Usgaonkar and Jackie Shroff from the 1993 release, Hasti. The veteran actress turns 56 years old today.

Having worked predominantly in the Marathi industry, Varsha Usgaonkar made her Bollywood debut with Insaniyat Ka Devta in 1993. The movie featured Vinod Khanna and Rajinikanth in leading roles.

She went on to make some amazing movies and soon became a household name. Varsha even worked with some prominent actors like Rishi Kapoor, Mithun Chakraborty, Jackie Shroff, and more.

When Varsha Usgaonkar found Jackie Shroff attractive

It was in an episode from The Kapil Sharma Show, which had veteran actresses like Varsha, Mandakini, and Sangeeta Bijlani grace the couch. During the show, the Tiranga actress opened up about how every woman, back in the 1990s, found Jackie extremely good-looking.

She even went on to mention how she found Apna Bhidu to be the most charming actor, and this miffed Vinod Khanna.

"I find Jackie Shroff to be the ideal hero, and the way he used to look at every heroine with his brooding eyes, any actress would feel he loved me. So in an interview, I mentioned that Jackie is my favorite hero," she said.

She further recalled how Vinod Khanna was upset with her and said, "When I went to the sets, Vinodji was so miffed at me, and he asked, "I don't have a personality am I not your favorite?" and I was like, "You are extremely charming, and I find you extremely handsome."

When Varsha Usgaonkar thought Rishi Kapoor was arrogant

In the same episode, the veteran Marathi actress also recalled how her first impression of Rishi Kapoor was wrong. The two collaborated on the film Honeymoon in 1992.

She said, "I did the film Honeymoon with Rishi Kapoor. I was very excited about the film and to work with him, as he was Raj Kapoor's son. But I always found him arrogant, and I never spoke to him much. We used to barely speak on the sets like 'Hi, how was your day' or 'Today the weather is good.' Sureshji would push me to go speak to him, but I couldn't."

The actress further added, "Later, when I read his biography, Khullam Khulla, he mentioned all his heroines and also my name in there. This made me feel amazing."

Radio City wishes Varsha Usgaonkar a very happy birthday.
