Mahesh Babu: Bollywood Cannot Afford Me, Don`t Want To Waste My Time In Such An Industry

The South superstar Mahesh Babu has been occupying the entertainment news headlines lately, courtesy to his latest sneaky remark about Bollywood not being able to afford him. Yes, you read that right!

This happened recently during Adivi Sesh'sMajor,the actor's upcoming movie. Mahesh Babu has been frequently asked about his plans of starring in a Bollywood movie and finally he broke his silence on the subject. With a little smirk, he said "Bollywood cannot afford me."

Now all Bollywood fans, hold your horses because there's more to this. Several media reports quoed him saying, "I did get a lot of offers in Hindi but I don't think they can afford me. I don't want to waste my time working in an industry which can't afford me. The stardom and the respect I get here is huge, so I never really thought of leaving my industry and going to some other industry."

Now this isn't the allegation or presumption that only Mahesh Babu has about Bollywood. Many actresses, including Taapsee Pannu, when made a switch to Bollywood from Tollywood faced severe discrimination and was conformed with the roles offered till she had her breakthrough in Pink.


Talking about his long term career goals, the Sarileru Neekevvaruactor said, "I have always thought of doing films and becoming bigger. My dream is coming true now and I can't be happier."

Son of Telugu superstar Krishna, Mahesh Babu started his career as a child artist with the movie Poratam, a 1989 release featuring his father. The Prince of Tollywood made his full-fledged debut with Raja Kumarudu opposite Preity Zinta in 1999. He went on to play the lead in superhit films like Athadu, Pokiri, Athidhi, Dookudu, SPYder, Bharat Ane NenuandMaharshi, to name a few.

Last seen in Sarileru Neekevvaru,the actor will be seen next in Major - a movie based on major Sandeep Unnikrishnan, a martyr in 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks. Watch the trailer of the movie here.
