Kareena Kapoor belongs to one of the most illustrious families in Bollywood. The Kapoors are often referred to as the first family of Hindi cinema. Her great-grandfather, Prithviraj Kapoor, started the legacy of acting and passed it on to her grandfather, Raj Kapoor. It was the Kapoor clan that continues to dominate Bollywood even today. However, strangely, no Kapoor woman ever worked for the longest time.

Rishi Kapoor's wife, Neetu Kapoor, and Randhir Kapoor's wife, Babita, quit acting after they got married. The question of why no Kapoor women have worked earlier has been lingering for quite some time. Opening up on the same, Kareena Kapoor spoke at length and even credited her father for changing with the times.

Kaeena applauded her sister, Karisma Kapoor, for breaking all odds and pursuing her passion for acting. She was the first Kapoor woman to break the patriarchal myth by making her debut in 1991 with Prem Qaidi. She even credited her father, Randhir Kapoor, for being supportive of the two sisters decision to choose their own career trajectory.

She said, 'It was difficult during Karisma's time because she was one of the first Kapoor girls, but... not to ever say that my father didn't support her and not to ever say Even now, if he calls me and he knows I'm shooting, he will be apologetic and say, Oh no, okay, focus on your work'. He's extremely cosmopolitan, extremely open-minded he's always been so nice about everything.'

'My father has been way ahead of his times. He has been my friend and guide," Bebo further added.

Speaking about women not working back in the day, the actress said, 'Back in the 1970s and stuff, it was different because times were different. That when they got married they never really worked, but I'm glad that my father moved with the times because that's what it's about. You have to keep changing yourself for your children. That's also important, and we should not live in archaic times.'
