Deepika Padukone to play Romi Dev in Kabir Khan’s 83

In a significant development with reference to director Kabir Khan's telling of the historic Indian win at the 1983 Cricket World Cup, in the film ''83', actress Deepika Padukone has been roped in to play the role of former Indian skipper Kapil Dev's wife, Romi.In a series of Instagram pictures, actor Ranveer Singh who essays the role of Kapil Dev, made the big announcement. The film has already been in the news for it commendable ensemble of actors including Pankaj Tripathi, Saqib Saleem, Tahir Raj Bhasin, Ammy Virk, Harrdy Sandhu, Jiiva, Sahil Khattar, Chirag Patil, Adinath Kothare, Dhairya Karwa, Dinker Sharma, Jatin Sarna, Nishant Dahiya and R Badree, who will form the 1983 Indian squad.Directed by Khan, ''83' is jointly produced by Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment, Reliance Entertainment and Madhu Mantena.The film is slated for release on April 10, 2020.
