The casting of ‘Manmarziyaan’ seems to be finally falling in place with the latest development being Malayalam heartthrob Dulquer Salmaan being roped in as the third wheel in the love triangle, starring Taapsee Pannu and Vicky Kaushal.
Dulquer, who is currently filming his debut film, ‘Karwaan’ with Irrfan Khan and internet sensation Mithila Palkar, is the latest darling among the millennial audience. Son of Malayalam superstar Mammooty, Dulquer has quite a following with the successes of his Malayalam and Tamil films, ‘Bangalore Days’ and ‘O Kaadhal Kanmani’ respectively.
Initially supposed to star Ayushmann Khurrana, Bhumi Pednekar and Kaushal, clash of ideologies between the producer Aanand L Rai and director Sameer Sharma, left ‘Manmarziyaan’ in the lurches. Ayushmann and Bhumi were then signed on to star in ‘Shubh Mangal Saavdhaan’, which has been one of 2017’s best films. ‘Manmarziyaan’ was later given to Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari, who couldn’t take the reins to reasons unknown. And now, Anurag Kashyap has finally been roped in to direct the film with some changes in the script.
Rai and Kashyap are also gearing up for the release of their first collaboration together, ‘Mukkabaaz’ in January 2018. Post that ‘Manmarziyaan’ will go on the floors with the first schedule to be filmed in Himachal Pradesh.
