As he is all set to don the role of the controversial political figure Arun Gawli, Arjun Rampal, who has produced, written and acted in his next 'Daddy', revealed in an exclusive interview to RJ Archana Pania on her show 'Kasa Kai Mumbai', that he had locked himself up in a hotel room to understand and slip into the character of his subject.'I was not convinced when the writers came to me with the initial script because there is hardly any information available about Arun ji on the internet. That's when I decided that if we are making this bio-pic, it should stay true to the subject and not come across as fictitious. So, I locked myself up in a hotel room, and I called over locals from Dagdi chawl in Mumbai Residents of Arun Gawli's locality to understand their lifestyle and habits. It helped me understand the man as a person better. I also interacted with his daughters Geeta and Yogeeta to understand their perspectives about their father. This helped me pen my script and get into the skin of the role''Daddy' has been in the waiting to release since the last seven months, but post-production hassles led to its delay. The film was earlier slated for release on July 21st, 2017, but Gawli's daughter Geeta, who currently is a BMC corporator herself, insisted that the film be released when Gawli is granted parole from his current sentence, so that he can watch the film as well.Directed by Ashim Ahluwalia, 'Daddy' is slated for release on September 8th, 2017. It also stars Aishwarya Rajesh, Nishikant Kamat, Anand Ingle and Rajesh Shringarpure in key roles.
